Six-month Public Affairs Internship – energy, environment and industry

Clerens Consulting (CC) (www.clerens.eu) is an independent EU consultancy firm specialised in EU association management (power generation, waste-to-energy and energy storage) and public affairs in the fields of energy and environment.

Based in the heart of the EU, Brussels, with over 20 years of experience, CC advises companies and organisations of all sizes to help them understand the external environment in which they operate and engage effectively with the EU institutions to:

  • Get their message across in Europe
  • Effectively and timely influence the European policy and legislative framework and the EU decision making process.
  • Identify new policy and business development opportunities.

CC’s primary focus is to deliver top-quality advisory services tailored to the unique needs of its clients by providing cutting-edge information, thorough analysis, strategic advice and flawless operational support.

Main duties:

You will dedicate most of your activities to support CC in handling its clients’ portfolio in the environment field, in particular the European Suppliers of Waste to Energy Technology (ESWET). You will also be asked to support the other associations CC is managing, namely the European Power Plant Suppliers Association (EPPSA) and the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) in the fields of energy, trade, industry, and competition. Support to other more general CC activities (e.g. administrative tasks) may also be required.

About ESWET:

The European Suppliers of Waste-to-Energy Technology is the European Association representing manufacturers in the field of Waste-to-Energy technology.

The main purpose of ESWET is to foster the development and the dissemination of Waste-to-Energy technology.

ESWET also seeks to raise the awareness of the positive implications of the technology in terms of better waste management, energy and for the environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the latest European news/activities in energy and environmental policies;
  • Preparing and participating in conferences, workshops and networking events;
  • Conducting research and reporting on numerous projects for the association;
  • Assisting various internal committee meetings;
  • Performing various administrative tasks.

Requirements and competencies:

  • Interest in energy and environmental issues;
  • University or advanced degree;
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite; good command of German/French are desirable; any additional European languages are an asset;
  • Knowledge of the EU Institutions and their workings;
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan to meet deadlines;
  • Previous experience in similar positions is an strong asset
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to learn fast and work in a wide range of issues
  • Cooperative and well-mannered, team player, curious attitude, flexible, sense of humour.
