European Federation for Construction Chemicals (EFCC) seeks its General Director (full-time position)
Based in Brussels and successfully established for more than 10 years with a growing Membership basis, the European Federation for Construction Chemicals (EFCC) represents construction chemical companies (both raw materials producers for construction chemicals and formulators of construction chemicals) and associations in Europe.
EFCC acts as spokesperson for the construction chemical industry before the European Union institutions and other public authorities, and communicates the industry’s views on policy issues regarding product stewardship (including product safety and quality, health, sustainability and resource efficiency).
Key tasks:
  • Establish relationships with the main regulatory bodies so as to anticipate future regulatory requirements, and exert a positive influence in shaping these regulations.
  • Get established as the reference point for information by authorities, institutes, and construction professionals.
  • Identify, monitor, and take action on emerging issues (both positive and negative) that can affect the future of the construction chemicals industry
  • Manage internal organization and operations. Drive external communications acting as the unified voice of the construction chemical industry.
  • Initiate and manage specific projects in support of the industry, with both promotional and technical objectives.
  • Lead co-ordination of specific issues, working with the relevant expert groups.
  • Liaise with other European trade associations, interest groups, and opinion leaders, such as industry groups and environmental bodies.
Personal characteristics and experience required:
  • University degree in engineering or natural sciences.
  • At least ten years of experience in European regulatory affairs activities and/or industrial or trade association context.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Professional experience in the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and REACH is a must. Knowledge on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the construction chemicals sector would be an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (other EU languages are an asset).
  • Excellent communication, media and interpersonal awareness skills.
  • Exceptional enthusiasm and self-motivation to successfully influence diverse groups ranging across multiple issues.
  • Initiative and perseverance.
Job location and tenure:
The job will be located in Brussels. We offer a full-time position with a permanent employment or consultancy contract according to Belgian law. Under specific circumstances there could be the possibility to fill the position with a minimum requirement of 140 days presence in Brussels.
