EURACTIV Media Network is a leading policy media, working in 12 languages across Europe. Here are it’s values (notably pro-European), its principles and its network.

EUROPE’S MEDIALAB (Fondation EURACTIV) is a “THINK-and-DO TANK” for healthy media sector in Europe. It is an independent part of the EURACTIV Media Network, initially known as Fondation EURACTIV, and ‘reconnu d’utilité publique’.

Through projects, events, political thinking, social media, and advocacy, the MEDIALAB is active in two fields:

1. THINK:

  • Advocates for media independence, sustainability, pluralism and language diversity

2. DO: 

To strengthen our management, we are currently selecting a: Executive Assistant (PR & Communications) to Founder of EURACTIV and Europe’s MediaLab. 

Possible starting date: February 2022

Job Description:

You will have a central role in helping the Founder of the EURACTIV Media Network and Europe’s MediaLab (Fondation EURACTIV) to double his productivity and impact. This includes developing high-level contacts, following up with multiple projects, and coordinating with media partners and other stakeholders. A centrally located office is available, in the International Press Centre just behind the EU Commission’s headquarters. This role is similar in its nature and responsibilites to what referred to as 'Chef de Cabinet'. Main tasks will include:

  • Initiate and support high-level contacts and networking
  • Developing presentations and PR materials about the European media sector
  • Keep track of ongoing projects with key stakeholders
  • Co-lead communication & social media profile, together with MediaLab’s Senior Manager for Communication and Projects
  • Support Founder in a variety of high-level activities with discretion and accuracy
  • Help coach an intern, leveraging own time regarding logistics etc

Profile:

  • 10 years experience in working in communication / PR / associations / Media
  • Perfectly fluent in French and English (oral & written), additional languages welcome
  • Proven engagement in line with (Fondation) EURACTIV values, e.g. personal NGO initiatives
  • 5 years of experience in assisting a senior role , including high-level contacts (discreet and trustworthy long term partner: excellent references on confidentiality)
  • Some knowledge of the media sector, EU policies and Brussels
  • Excellent organizational skills, pro-active communicator, diplomatic approach
  • Experience with MS Office and social media
  • Open to working as independent contractor (This is a near full-time position, with at least Wednesdays afternoons off, and scope for other activities)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
