We are recruiting a highly-motivated and detail-oriented person to lead the Finance Department of GWEC .

The Global Wind Energy Council is the international trade association for the wind power industry, one of the world’s most crucial and dynamic industries.

Our mission is to ensure that wind power establishes itself as the answer to today’s energy challenges, providing substantial environmental and economic benefits, and its board is made up of the leading corporations active in the sector.

The finance officer will be responsible strategic planning, operations management, financial statement analysis, treasury management and managing accounting and finance department including an ability to work well with the chief executive officer, board members and other senior managers.

As Finance Officer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Maintain the general and subsidiary ledgers of the Company and affiliated GWEC foreign office.
  • Ensure detailed entry of all accounting records.
  • Manage and record all accounting transactions in compliance with policies and regulations in force; verify, allocate post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Manage profit/loss statements and balance sheets including fixed assets.
  • Finance management of EC and or any public fund projects
  • Issue outgoing invoices and distribute them electronically or by mail
  • Credit control & cash flow management
  • Prepare timely bank payments.
  • Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and accruals.
  • Support year-end close process, including related journal entries.
  • Establish companies' tax  and VAT statements.
  • Prepare financial statements and participate in the annual budget process.
  • Budget reporting to be presented to the CEO and board members.
  • Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentation for auditors.
  • If requested, prepare consolidated accounts and participate in the consolidation processes.
  • Contribute to the elaboration of financial reports and statements for management reviews.
  • Assist in the analysis of financial discrepancies and recommend effective solutions.
  • Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion.
  • Assist and participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and IT systems relating to financial management, budget and accounting.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.


  • Fluent English and French speaker, any other European language is an asset.
  • Degree in finance, tax  and  accounting
  • Strong experience in financial statement analysis
  • At least 3 years experience and interest in finance and administration management
  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility, responsibility
  • Strong analytic skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Willing to work in a dynamic international association
  • Customer oriented and high attention to details
  • Ability to work independently as well as in team as well as under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Candidate should ideally have worked in a large organisation
  • A passion for renewable energy
