Prospective, Governance and Facilitation of Multi-stakeholder Processes in the Field of Environment & Land Use Planning
 
THE ORGANISATION
ACTeon is a small research and consultancy company active in the field of environment. It is specialised in the “soft” components of environmental management and policy, i.e. social and economic impacts, the valuation of environmental goods and services, the role of economic instruments in environmental policy, governance,
 
institutions, mediation and communication. ACTeon its currently diversifying its activities from water to agriculture and the environment, climate change, renewable energy, nature protection or marine resources. Most of its activities are taking place in France, Europe and also in the Mediterranean region.
 
THE JOB
ACTeon is looking for a highly dynamic, innovative and qualified expert in the field of prospective, governance and facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes. Key tasks relevant to the position include:
• Support to the organisation and implementation of multi-stakeholder processes in the field of natural resource management, environmental protection and land use planning;
• Analysis, development and application of tools and methods for effective prospective analysis, mediation & facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes
• Development and testing of new/innovative tools & methods
• Research on participatory learning, knowledge systems, institutions and governance applied to the management of natural resources;
• Reporting and communicating on policy processes, public participation, governance, institutions.
• Organisation of capacity building activities in the above mentioned fields of expertise. This implies training of experts, helpdesk services, preparation of training materials, etc.
• Contribution in the development of new projects and research activities in particular in the field of renewable energy and nature protection In the short term, ACTeon will provide key opportunities for the expert to take initiatives and responsibilities and thus to develop professionally in the competitive European market.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• M.Sc./Ph.D. in sociology, psychology, political science applied to the environment... or in the field of environment and land use planning with possible specialisation in sociology & governance
• Minimum 5 year working experience, including in the field of environment and land use planning
• (Successful) Practical experience in the facilitation of multi-stakeholder processes, in particular in the field of environment, climate change, nature protection & biodiversity, sustainable development, land use planning...
• Good understanding of environmental policy at regional/country/EU scale
• Experience in the management of research/consultancy projects
• Very good (written, oral) communication skills. A working knowledge of French and English is a pre-requisite for this position. Working knowledge of other EU languages is seen as an advantage.

It is expected that the expert will: (i) be able to work independently; (ii) enjoy making innovative ideas operational; (iii) have a good sense of responsibilities; (iv) feel at ease in team work with partners and experts from other disciplines and countries; and (v) be able to lead and animate a team of researchers & experts.

ADMINISTRATIVE & WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
This is a full time position at ACTeon in accordance to French regulation and law in terms of social security, holidays, etc. The contract is expected to be for a permanent position, although short-term contracts (minimum one year) can be considered. Confirmation of the appointment will take place after a two month probation period.
The yearly salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. The expert will be part of a small team of 12 experts. She/he will work in collaborative projects involving a wide range of organisations with different expertise (technical, socio-economic) and from different (mainly EU) countries. Projects currently under
way include activities in France but also in Malta, Morocco, Bulgaria... ACTeon is also involved in EU-wide review studies and research, in particular for the European Commission.

The position is located in Colmar (East of France, around 30 mn by train from Strasbourg or Basle). The possibility to work partially from home (e.g. 20 % of the time or one day a week) can be considered after a certain time period. The position includes missions abroad (within Europe mainly).
