IDEA CONSULT (Brussels) is an economic research and consultancy organisation, founded in 1998, and part of the European ECORYS group. IDEA Consult provides research-based consultancy where economic research is translated into strategic advice for companies and government institutions. All IDEA experts (now 35) have a strong academic and research background and are researchers with several years of experience in both applied economic research and consultancy. Several obtained a Ph.D. all others obtained a master’s degree.

IDEA Consult operates in four business areas: (1) competitiveness, regulatory management and innovation; (2) labour market and social-economic policy; (3) real estate and spatial development and (4) regional and urban development.

Job description
You will manage challenging projects in the field of European cohesion policy, urban and rural development. The projects will range from research and analysis, through specific advice, to evaluation and impact assessment of programmes and strategies. You will formulate concrete recommendations for future policy. You will be involved in all phases of the project cycle: prospection and preparation of proposals, the setting up of project partnerships, the implementation, the formulation of policy recommendations and the communication to the client.

Key responsibilities

• To prepare and to participate in prospecting new clients and partners;
• To lead the preparation of proposals;
• To prepare project go/no go decisions on project proposals;
• To manage a portfolio of projects in an independent way;
• To lead teams to realise the project;
• To write conclusions and strategic recommendations and to present client reports;
• To develop and maintain a network of partners and clients in the market;
• To contribute to the planning and global strategy of the domain ‘regional and urban development’.

Your qualifications and experience

• You have a university degree, ideally in an Economics related discipline;
• You are an expert in the field, with more than 10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a EU environment;
• You have good knowledge and understanding of EU regional policy;
• You have knowledge of data and information analysis techniques and models, especially in relation to policy evaluation, monitoring and impact assessment;
• You have good project management skills, including knowledge on project finances;
• You can manage teams. You motivate and support staff in the achievement of projects;
• You have good presentation skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Good knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset;
• You are client oriented, can convince and sell ideas and proposals.

A good publication record or a project reference list in the field of European regional policy is an asset;
