Job Description
Our Association Management team is looking to recruit an Executive Director (ED).
Position: Account Executive Director
Sector: Association Management/Healthcare
Type: Full Time (Estimated start date: no later than 1 April 2009)
Mission:
Based in Brussels, the Executive Director (ED) plans, organizes, coordinates, controls and directs staff, programs, budget, and activities of the Society. The ED is responsible for providing strategic advice to the Society’s leadership and for ensuring high-quality and efficient execution of the association’s strategic goals and key activities. The ED reports to the Society’s Executive Committee and Council. His/her focus will be on the development of strategic initiatives, in coordination with volunteer executive leadership. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for all operations including finances and budget, fundraising, business development and corporate relationships, and building/maintaining partnerships with members, suppliers, vendors, and related organizations, and institutions.
Candidate profile:
* Knowledgeable and experienced in the healthcare sector;
* Invested in and committed to the long-term success of the Society and to its growth and public awareness goals; capable of a broad understanding of the Society and the work it does for and on behalf of its members to support the Society’s philanthropic and altruistic goals;
* Capable of effectively networking with key internal and external stakeholders with a “content-based” approach;
* Capable of building immediate credibility and trust of staff and the Society’s Executive Committee, Council, Committee Chairs, Editors and other key volunteer leaders;
* Experienced in generating results across the multiple cultures that comprise Society membership and those cultures/regions targeted through global outreach programs;
* An advocate for change and growth within the Society;
* A strong team leader and effective mentor to staff;
* Entrepreneurial and results oriented;
* Capable of efficiently leading and managing the Society’s main activities, including publications, educational meetings, and global outreach programs; and,
* Able to creatively and strategically scan the environment for opportunities to develop and implement initiatives to increase value and relevance to members and prospective members, consistent with the mission of the Society (e.g., increased fund raising, improved member recruitment and retention, etc.)
Requirements:
* Substantial experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams in international organisations [at least between 5 to 8 years of such experience] ;
* Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively manage and influence all key stakeholders;
* Ability to work effectively with a broad range of personalities and work styles;
* Politically astute and culturally sensitive;
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
* Charismatic and energetic.
