Job Description
The EFC is recruiting a creative, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join its Events Department to oversee event logistics and outreach. The Events Officer will work as part of a team to assist and support general EFC events and to organise and run the logistics of the EFC: Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Conference, Grantmakers East Forum (GEF), and Foundation Week. The position will report to the EFC Chief Operating Officer.
Position Responsibilities
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Identifying venues as well as additional hotels and negotiating contracts.
• Dealing with suppliers, technical equipment providers, and local agencies.
• Working with colleagues to establish time frames for event preparations, advising on event related matters, and assisting colleagues to ensure all aspects of events are well-prepared and run smoothly.
• On-site management of events.
• Publicity for events in publications and on the EFC website.
• Evaluating the success of events.
• Monitoring of budget and all related finances.
This job opening comes at an exciting time as the EFC scales up its advocacy role in Brussels by organising the 2010 Foundation Week. Set to take place in Brussels from 31 May – 4 June 2010, the objective of the week is to increase the visibility of foundations and encourage engagement between foundations and key players of the European Institutions.
Specific responsibilities related to this new initiative include:
• Communicating with, and synchronisation of, EFC staff involved in the preparations of the event.
• Identification of, and communication with, potential partners and sponsors.
• Building relationships with relevant stakeholders (including EFC members, partners, EU institution representatives, etc.) in Europe and beyond.
• Coordination of public relations and advertising of the event.
Candidate Profile
Are you?
• Skilled in developing and managing large-scale events; well organised with strong administrative skills.
• Creative and ready to think ‘outside of the box.’
• Self-motivated and proactive; ready to take on responsibilities and propose new ideas.
• A team player with interpersonal skills who can drive change and is keen to work in a vibrant international environment.
• A university graduate with relevant work experience.
• Strong in English with a good knowledge of additional European languages.
