ESL & Network is a consultancy specialised in strategic monitoring & lobbying, which accompanies public and private decision-makers to enable them to prepare their decisions at the earliest possible stage with the best possible knowledge of the environment. Its office in Brussels, ESL & Network (European Affairs), is looking for a trainee to support its current team.

Main responsibilities:

  •  Legislative monitoring and research at both EU and Member State level;
  • Supporting the existing team in the preparation of reports, minutes, newsletters and fact sheets on various EU topics (e.g. Transport, Digital Agenda, Trade, Health);
  • Assisting in the organisation of conferences, events and meetings;
  • Supporting the senior colleagues in developing new business opportunities;
  • Translation and proofreading in French and English, as required.

Educational/professional qualifications:

  • Master level university education in a relevant field;
  • Working knowledge of EU institutions and legislative processes;
  • Previous experience in the aforementioned domains and/or in a Brussels-based consultancy or with the European Institutions would be an added-value.

Skills and abilities:

  • Strong interest in European affairs;
  •  Excellent written and spoken English and French (ideally C2);
  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness;
  • Ability to grasp new ideas quickly;
  • Flexibility and ability to work under tight deadlines;
  • Excellent working knowledge of standard office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Conditions

  • Candidates must be authorised to work in Belgium without any restrictions;
  • Belgian “professional immersion” contract based on experience;
  • Start date: as soon as possible;
  • Duration: 6 months.
