EUROPEN - The European Organization for Packaging and the Environment - is a cross-industry organization presenting the opinion of the packaging supply chain (i.e. raw material producers, converters and brand owners plus national packaging organizations) in Europe on topics related to packaging, packaging waste and the environment, independent of specific packaging materials or systems.

To support our team in Brussels, we are looking for an EU Public Affairs and Communications Intern to assist with EU policy work and communication activities. The internship will provide you with an opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of the EU decision-making process and Public Affairs in a cross-cultural work experience at an interesting legislative time for packaging and waste policy topics.


  • Research and monitor current policy developments;
  • Organise and participate in meetings, including follow up actions;
  • Produce/update/review information material related to packaging & environmental issues;
  • Produce Power Point presentations;
  • Support and reinforce EUROPEN communications in its daily tasks (social media, website content management, e-newsletter);
  • Assist in administrative tasks, when necessary.


  • A Master degree in EU and/or Environmental Studies, Politics, Law, Economics, International relations or Communications;
  • Good knowledge of the EU, its institutions and processes;
  • Attention to detail and highly organised;
  • Full professional proficiency in English;
  • Good writing/editing skills;
  • Strong communications skills (e.g. PPT, digital);
  • Proficiency in the use of graphic design, video content is also an asset;
  • Highly motivated;
  • Team player, proactive, dynamic, and open-minded personality;


  • Full-time internship, allowance towards living & transportation costs
  • Deadline for sending applications:  30 September 2019
