EU Policy and Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the implementation of SEMI public policy program through strategic partnerships with industry groups, businesses and EU institutions. The incumbent will promote the strategic interest of nano-electronics and digital tech; drive a policy environment (technology, talent, trade and circular economy) supporting industry growth; and coordinate strategic projects and advocacy programs in the field of artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to think broadly, identify new opportunities and challenges, operationalize strategic policy actions and projects. This position will report to the Director of Advocacy and Public Policy, SEMI Europe.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support SEMI and its members representation in Brussels and across Europe, with a focus on high-value advocacy topics: technology, talent, trade and circular economy.
  • Identify and report strategic advocacy and technology collaboration opportunities.
  • Deliver added value for SEMI members – with a focus on engaging members in key policy issues and influencing policy and regulatory topics.
  • Coordinate a steady policy dialogue with EU institutions and key stakeholders to promote the interests of SEMI members and create a positive policy framework for the industry in Europe.
  • Support SEMI working groups to identify and address EU policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Help organize SEMI strategic meetings in Brussels and at tech shows across Europe
  • Regularly communicate activities and upcoming policy developments to members.
  • Coordinate Europe’s advocacy & policy contribution to SEMI Global Update.

Experience, Knowledge and Critical Success Factors:

  • Academic background in EU Public Policy / Business / Engineering or relevant degrees (ideally MA / MSc level, completed in English).
  • Short term work / traineeship experience with the European Institutions, industry associations and/or businesses’ government affairs departments.
  • Demonstrated interest in topical issues such as artificial intelligence, talent, global trade and circular economy.
  • Interest in coordinating multilateral projects and organizing policy and technology events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to build and maintain sustainable stakeholder relations in Brussels and across Europe.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, a strong team player with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects.
  • Self-starter with strong, proactive work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and a positive, service-oriented attitude.

  • advanced SEMI Europe’s public policy objectives by effectively promoting the industry’s interests, aligning policy makers with the industry’s positions, and expanded SEMI’s involvement in key strategic projects.
  • delivered high quality project deliverables and policy updates on time.
  • addressed effectively industry policy and business issues such as talent, emerging technologies, circular economy and global trade.   
  • supported collaboration between public and private actors of the European electronics industry.
  • identified and helped operationalize new strategic collaboration opportunities in policy, technology and business.

About the position:

  • Based in Brussels
  • Liaising with colleagues across various regional offices
  • Some EU and occasionally international travel involved
  • 1-year contract, subject to extension
