The Whitehouse Consultancy is looking for a highly-motivated and enthusiastic trainee to assist our EU team in its day-to-day activities. The position is based at our London office near London Bridge.

Whitehouse is an award-winning issues-led communications agency with decades of experience in EU and UK public affairs, press and media relations, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications and training. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in politics and public affairs to gain an insight into work in a consultancy environment. The internship will provide the successful candidate with a thorough understanding of the EU policy making processes, as well as research, campaigning and public affairs techniques.

We pay all our interns the London Living Wage and the majority go on to secure full-time jobs in public affairs.

Job description

  • Preparing background notes, briefings, reports, and articles;
  • Assisting consultants in conducting research, analysis and monitoring activities for their clients;
  • Assisting consultants in the development and execution of Public Affairs, lobbying and communication strategies;
  • Assisting consultants in their interest representation on behalf of their clients, such as setting up meetings with EU policymakers and other stakeholders, preparing meeting documents, monitoring the Brexit process, etc.;
  • Supporting the team in the organisation of events;
  • Assisting the Whitehouse team with day-to-day administrative duties.

Background and qualifications

  • Graduated in a relevant field such as European studies, Political Science, Communications or other relevant education;
  • Previous internship experience within the European Institutions and/or Public Affairs highly desirable;
  • Language skills: Excellent spoken and written English (Native-speaker level or equivalent) any other languages are considered an asset;
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.). Social media skills are an asset;
  • Proactive and dynamic person with excellent communication and personal skills;
  • Flexible work attitude, hands-on mentality, able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Sound interest in food, health and digital related policies at European and UK level.

Terms and conditions

  • The post will be available starting from the beginning of January 2020;
  • Duration: 6 months; with possibility of extension / appointment.
  • We offer the London Living Wage
