Lawyer, Energy Transition Global Challenge

Strategic Litigation programme – Brussels

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a junior lawyer to make a key contribution toward ensuring that Europe’s power sector complies with applicable environmental standards and minimises its impact on public health, the environment and the climate, and that Europe’s power sector functions in an efficient, flexible, clean and competitive manner. Progressive and innovative legal action has the potential to transform the EU energy landscape and to drive investment in sustainable alternatives.

You will report directly to the coal project lead, who oversees our use of environmental and State aid laws to challenge the operation and construction of coal power plants. You will also work closely with colleagues more broadly within the Energy Transition Global Challenge, working to secure the effective implementation of energy laws that will secure Europe’s energy transition, as we seek to ensure that Europe can meet its Paris Agreement obligations.
