ECOS: Energy & Climate Officer

Job Description
The Energy & Climate Officer will monitor and influence several EU and international
processes related to climate change mitigation, energy efficiency and renewable energy:
- Improvement of standards for the implementation of ambitious eco-design policies on domestic and industrial appliances
- Harmonisation of carbon footprinting and carbon labelling methodologies
- Technical specifications and standards in the field of energy performance of buildings
- Standardisation of policy instruments to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy (e.g. guarantees of origin, white certificates…)
To achieve this, the Officer will work in close cooperation with other ECOS staff (on ecodesign
and standardisation) and handle the following tasks:
- Recruitment of technical experts to assist ECOS on these topics
- Preparation and dissemination of position papers
- Participation in meetings and conferences
- Communication to the Environmental NGO community
ECOS works on behalf of the environmental NGO community to improve the integration of
ecological aspects in technical standards and EU product policies. It makes technical
contributions and coordinates its member organisations’ advocacy activities.
ECOS is a non-profit European umbrella organisation of currently 22 Environmental NGOs
with its secretariat in Brussels.
