Job Description

The Company:
Founded in 1959, CEFIC is the primary trade association and international voice of the European chemical industry. With Members in over 28 countries, its mission is to maintain and develop a prosperous chemicals industry in Europe, as an essential part of a sustainable society. It seeks to ensure the continued competitiveness of the industry and promote the development of workable, proportional, predictable and science-based legislation with the authorities.

The Role:

  • Reporting to the President and General Assembly, provide vision and leadership to an organisation with significant influence and ambitions. Develop and deliver the strategy for representing Members' interests.
  • Maintain and enhance CEFIC as the voice of the industry, on all matters. Be the unequalled authority at the centre of an extensive international network of national chemical and sector associations.
  • Direct a multi-disciplinary team of 160 staff plus many external collaborators from the membership. Manage a £40M+ budget and allocate resources appropriately. Scrutinise CEFIC's business plans, operating methods and quality of outputs.

The Candidate:

  • Senior figure from a corporate, academic or public institution with an extensive personal network. Possessing a clear understanding of science-based industries and European legislative processes.
  • Credible, creative and engaging individual, recognised as a natural leader. Proven track record of successful strategic and commercial management. Outstanding, politically astute advocate, able to positively influence all stakeholders and enhance the industry image.
  • First class communicator and listener, with strong presentation skills and a passion to gather knowledge and build a successful team.
