Job Description
DIGITALEUROPE combines 40 national digital technology associations from 28 European countries with over 61 direct company members.
Altogether it represents more than 10,000 enterprises in Europe with more than two million employees and revenues of over EUR 1,000 billion.
DIGITALEUROPE Board members are Executives from major Technology Hardware companies (Siemens, Ericsson, Nokia, HP, …), as well as senior members from Trade Associations around Europe (BITKOM Germany, Alliance TiCS France, INTELLECT UK,…).
DIGITALEUROPE is the primary platform for its members to share information expertise and warning, works on issues that have direct impact on their companies’ bottom-lines and is recognised by policy makers in the European Union as the leading body representing the technology hardware sector.
DIGITALEUROPE concentrates its activities around 4 policy groups: Technical & Regulatory, Trade, Digital Economy and Environment. The team comprises 12 professionals that work closely together in a team atmosphere.
DIGITALEUROPE’s Director General is Bridget Cosgrave, and their offices are based in Brussels.
Responsibilities
The Communications Manager is responsible for organization and delivery of all printed and online communications collaterals of DIGITALEUROPE, that range from positioning papers, press releases, brochures, website, newsletters, internal communications,…. with the objective to deliver against PR plan and obtain ‘share of voice’.
He/she works closely with colleagues at DIGITALEUROPE, as well as with press officers and public affairs representatives from the membership, and reports to the Director General.
Principal accountabilities for this position are:
Press: Writes annual PR plan Prepares and coordinates press releases, Q&A, press profiles, briefings journals, and manages pro-actively and re-actively interview requests Coordinates press relations Liaise with the press steering committee
Website: Ensures that the Website is kept up-to-date Elaborates and implements online social networking strategy Pro-actively and continuously reviews and adapts both the look-and-feel and content to the extent necessary Internal Communications towards the members Writes-, develops lay-out of- and distributes regular news-letters to all members
Collateral: Ensures consistent lay-out and packaging of white papers and positioning papers Develops brochures Does copywriting
Coordination: Assists in coordinating the Director General’s schedule with regard to press activities and events
Sets the communication agenda towards organizations and decision makers (EC, members of parliament, NGOs,…)
Organizes press events
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate has the following profile:
University degree or equivalent through experience
- 5 years of work experience, of which 3 years in marketing communications, either at a company/institution or agency
- Good understanding of media relations English-speaker with a proven advanced ability to draft clear and concise texts.
- A working knowledge of another Community language is useful but not required for the position.
- Proficiency in standard office software and modern communications technology
The successful candidate should be:

- Team player, works closely with colleagues can adapt to the person he/she is dealing with
- Dynamic, enthusiast and flexible to take on high workload when necessary

The successful candidate should have:
- Strong synthesis, concise and complete in his/her written communication
- Communication- and interpersonal skills as well as multi-cultural awareness in order to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with DIGITALEUROPE member communications executives, other industry associations and with the media Impact, has a clear aptitude to motivate people and can convince others
- Organization skills, implement plans and projects in a well-organized and quality manner Helicopter view to understand and support the role of Communications in the overall DIGITALEUROPE strategy and objectives
