This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Digital Marketing and/or Social Media professional to gain hands-on experience in a European organisation on a mission to make the food system more sustainable, healthy and trusted for all.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Food is a young and fast growing organisation focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation in the food sector. EIT Food is a startup but has the characteristics of a multinational and is operating in a European and international environment. It has 5 regional offices (Co-Location Centres or CLC) in Europe, each covering several EIT Food partners and partner countries. The members of the EIT Food community are world-class players in the international food domain. 


  • Full-time and flexible negotiation on duration.
  • Working hours: 9-5pm Monday to Thursday, 9-3pm on Fridays
  • Support towards relocation/accommodation: EUR 600/month


  • (S)he will be based in Madrid (Spain)
  • Occasional travel within Europe can be expected

  • Support our Social Media Manager in creating exciting content for our social media channels:
  • Creation of videos, banners & campaign visuals (with a design agency if needed), build our stock of photos & images
  • Community Management support: content planning and scheduling (Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook)
  • Live tweeting & stories at events
  • Help design, set-up, run and measure the results of Ads (Facebook Ads, Promoted Tweets, Linkedin Ads) to promote our activities
  • Social media reporting: Create, update, improve our social media and website dashboards (Learn how to use Google Data Studio) and extract relevant monthly data to inform our social media strategy and management team 
  • Stakeholder mapping: Help build brand awareness of EIT Food and its activities by identifying key stakeholders to target with our communications, including influencers, journalists, entrepreneurs and politicians.
  • Work closely with the other members of the communications team. Support on ad hoc basis in other areas of communication when required.
  • Supporting our website manager to create, monitor and improve website copy, keeping all pages up to date. Writing articles and setting up event pages when needed.
  • Get insight into the development of a content marketing and social media strategy

Ideally, the candidate has:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree (either currently studying, about to finish or having recently graduated)
  • Very good written English and the ability to write good copy (will be tested at the interview)
  • Some knowledge of social media marketing, content marketing and digital analytics
  • An interest in communication, marketing, content creation and social media
  • A passion for food, innovation and sustainability
  • An interest in graphic design, photo and video editing
  • The ability to take ownership and initiative to get things done without being asked
  • The ability to confidently communicate with our colleagues, partners & suppliers

Bonus points if the candidate has:

  • Some experience in food startups or a keen interest in food entrepreneurship
  • Previous marketing experience or qualifications, especially digital marketing
