CREDIT CONTROLLER
Open-ended contract to start asap,
reporting to the Finance Manager

Scope
The Credit Controller is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining an effective and professional credit control system for the Association to ensure that debtors remit the amount they owe within the agreed payment terms.
Duties
Cash collection
- Ensure Accounts Receivable portfolio is accurate and is updated with latest information to reflect current situation (ensuring allocation of payments are correct, maintaining accurate and up to date client information and contact persons)
- Constantly improve the collection procedures to optimise efficiencies
- Ensure debts are paid in a timely manner within the agreed terms of payment
- Meet the Days sales Outstanding (DSO) targets
- Chase overdue invoices within agreed timescales, by sending out monthly client statements and other periodic reminders, following established procedures
- Maintain accurate records of all chasing activities
- Attend meetings at set times with various stakeholders to report back on the status of collections and difficulties encountered in the recovery of difficult debtors
- Effectively handle disputed accounts together with the involvement of the Membership & Events or any other persons responsible for raising invoices
- Perform account reconciliations as required
- Credit check new customers and identify and advise appropriate departments on risky customers
Administrative duties
- Assist in the timely creation of invoices
- Respond promptly, accurately and completely to both client and internal enquiries
- Propose write-offs of irrecoverable debtors, with justification
- Obtain authorization for write-offs from appropriate responsible persons
- Prepare files for transfer to Legal Counsel for collection
- Manage files transferred to Legal Counsel, including collection costs
- Ensure monthly processing deadlines are met as required
- Process write off journals once authorised
- Provide ad-hoc reports when requested
- Keep abreast of new credit management techniques and practices
- Manage calls and generic mailboxes
- Support the implementation of the CRM system
- Organise archives and file documents
- Assist colleagues of the Finance Unit
- Perform other duties, from time to time, as requested by the Finance Manager or his / her delegate
Required key qualifications
- Bachelor degree, preferably in Accounting or Economics
- Able to demonstrate experience of 1 year in a credit control department
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- High standard of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to think logically and to follow processes and procedures
- Ability to recognise potential risks that should be escalated
- Interest for renewable energy and environment
- Team player with a flexible approach and willingness to learn
- Outgoing and confident personality who is able to operate at all levels
- Customer-friendly and diplomatic
- Strong organisational & time management skills
- Competence of Excel and Word skills
- Proactive who can set and achieve goals
- Excellent written and oral English
- French or Dutch is an advantage
