Job description

This person supports the Benelux Corporate Affairs (existing of Public Affairs & CSR and Sustainability) strategy and plan, in alignment with the European strategy, helping to drive engagement and awareness of Samsung within the Benelux governments and external stakeholders. This person will focus for 80% on Belgium/Luxembourg and 20% The Netherlands. This person has to support Samsung’s social investment programme and has to support internal and external communications relating to Public Affairs, CSR and Sustainability. This person reports to the Manager/Head Corporate Affairs Benelux. The stationary office will be Diegem-Brussels area, but regular travel to the Netherlands is part of the job.

Scope of the role

  • Build and maintain a network among important key external stakeholders, influencers, politicians, civil servants, key trade bodies, organisations and groups (focus: Belgium).
  • Leveraging the Samsung brand through strategic alliances and CSR partners
  • Identify issues in cooperation with agencies in developing speeches, stakeholder packs/materials
  • Coordinate series of events driving Samsung messaging with political stakeholders
  • Support the thought leadership programme to media and external stakeholders together with manager corporate affairs and the marketing team.
  • Regular internal communication and reporting on Public Affairs & CSR to Samsung Benelux and Samsung EHQ & HQ
  • Enhances the company’s reputation through CSR and Public Affairs
  • To solve issues in relation to non-commercial external stakeholders
  • Align with EHQ’s process for measuring programme inputs, outputs and impact, in alignment with European KPIs and act as contact point for EHQ, providing regular progress reports
  • Manage responses to incoming charity requests for donations, in alignment with the charitable donations policy
  • Engage with business divisions to explore opportunities for driving shared value, including innovative solutions to local social and environmental issues
  • Develop local employee engagement projects in partnership with HR, including internal communications, employee volunteering schemes and ‘Ambassador’ programmes

  • Experience dealing with complex and sensitive issues/crisis

Profile (experience)

  • Master degree (economics, politics, communications, public policy)
  • Working experience: 0-2 years
  • Preferably experience of executing Public Affairs and CSR strategies/activities
  • Trilingual (Dutch, English and French)
  • Samsung DNA: Flexible / no 9-5 worker / Dynamic
  • Contract for one year with intention to extend
