Job Description
Applications are invited for the position as coordinator of European affairs for the Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health (PEROSH) at its new office in Brussels. The successful candidate will be responsible for networking, coordination and further development of research cooperation between 13 national research centres across 12 European countries.
PEROSH was founded in 2001 and aims to create added value to the European society by cooperating and coordinating research and development in its field. Furthermore, PEROSH aims to counsel and cooperate with the EU and the national authorities of Europe in order to support policy development and enforcement.
Qualification requirements:
The candidate must be a mature academic in position of a master’s degree in fields such as social or political sciences, natural sciences, engineering sciences, medicine or equivalent.
Good interpersonal skills are important and prior knowledge of or experience with research management, the EU Commission and Parliament and/or the field of occupational safety and health is preferred.
Furthermore, the candidate must be fluent in English and preferably with a good command of another EU-language.
Conditions of employment:
The coordinator of European affairs will report to the appointed chairman of the Steering Committee of PEROSH. The director generals of the member institutes constitute the Steering Committee, which is the highest body of the Partnership.
The coordinator of European affairs will be employed by Prevent, Brussels, which is the Belgian member of PEROSH and location of the PEROSH Brussels office. Consequently, the terms and conditions of the employment will be according to Belgian law.
The employment will be based on an open-ended contract, and the salary will be set according to qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Job description
The coordinator of European affairs will be the contact point of PEROSH for external stakeholders, and the daily facilitator of networking, coordination and development of PEROSH. This facilitation will cover all levels from external relations nationally and internationally at the strategic level to practical research cooperation and transfer of knowledge between the member institutes at the practical level.
The coordinator of European affairs will work closely with the chairman of PEROSH and with the chairman of the scientific steering group of the research directors of the member institutes. The chairman chairs biannual meetings of the steering committee and represents PEROSH in relation to third party stakeholders, such as the EU, national and regional authorities, industry, universities and other research organisations at the European scene.
The chairman of the scientific steering group monitors and facilitates progress in and development of joint research projects between the member institutes. A constituent part of the effort of the coordinator of European affairs will be to ensure communication between project managers and researchers at the member institutes.
Contacts with key officials and organisations at the EU level and nationally is a major part of the job in order to gather intelligence of interest to PEROSH, and to promote the cooperation among stakeholders.
Furthermore, the coordinator of European affairs will be responsible for the further development and updating of public and internal websites e.g. on joint research and comparative statistics on the member institutes.
The job will require travelling.
