Job Description
CECED is currently looking for a communication manager for its Brussels central secretariat. The ideal candidate should correspond to the profile below and start in first half of 2010.
Background
CECED represents the household appliance manufacturers in Europe. Its main missions are to provide a forum for the European industry and to stand for its interests. It also is in permanent dialogue with the EU’s political and regulatory institutions, it interacts with the press and media, with non-governmental organizations defending a wide range of opinions (including consumers and environmental groups) and with other interested parties.
Responsibilities & assignments
- Develop a visibility and communication strategy and implement it directly reporting to the Director General and in cooperation with policy working groups and regulatory affairs managers.
- Manage external communications: interviews, press releases, brochures, web news, position papers, speeches, etc.
- Prepare President’s speeches and press releases;
- Be a spokesperson for CECED when delegated.
- Build and maintain press contacts.
- Organise media events and conferences.
Profile
- English mother-tongue or equivalent, any other language an asset.
- Degree in journalism, communication, public relations or strong professional experience.
- At least 3 years work experience in communications.
- Good copywriting capabilities
- Familiar with EU policies and environmental / energy / industry issues.
- Understanding of technological products a plus.
- High-level computer literacy including desktop publishing and website management.
- Creativity, energy, open-mindedness, pro-activeness.
- Ability to work in a team and under tight work schedules and deadlines.
