Missing Children Europe is looking to recruit a multi-faceted, versatile and creative Communications and Fundraising Intern to support, execute and implement communication efforts and support fundraising for the organisation.

Missing Children Europe is the European federation for missing and sexually exploited children, representing 30 organisations from 26 European countries. We provide the link between research, policies and organisations on the ground, to protect children from any kind of violence, abuse or neglect that is caused by, or results from them going missing.

The Communications and Fundraising Intern will report to the Junior Communications Officer and the Partnership and Fundraising Officer.

Proofreading and Copywriting

  • Proofread all the content created or generated for marketing purposes or to support projects and fundraising efforts
  • Assisting, developing and writing newsletters, press releases, opinion pieces, etc.

Monitoring and updating channels

  • Assist strategy and implementation of marketing and dissemination needs related to existing apps, publications, events, videos as well as new content relating to website and video needs
  • Create and disseminate social media content
  • Update multiple websites
  • Update mailing lists
  • Media monitoring and reporting on communication campaigns, social media reach and engagement, Google analytics, bitly, YouTube etc
  • Advertising campaigns on Twitter, Facebook and implementing the Google Ad Words for non-profits


  • Support projects, fundraising events and campaigns with the necessary marketing and communication efforts such as the designing, printing and translation of posters, invites, save the dates, publications etc.
  • Make efforts to ensure the brand of the organisation is strong, consistent and enforced in internal and external efforts


  • Donor overview and mapping: creation of a donor-tracker which enables MCE to have a full overview of its current, past and potential donors (institutional donors; trusts and foundations; High Net Worth Individuals; corporate and individual donors) allowing MCE to monitor donations
  • To assist with the creation of a timely and appropriate donor thanking system
  • To assist with the organisation of fundraising events and activities

Profile, skills and background:


  • University degree in communication, marketing, press relations or other relevant field
  • Native command of English
  • Experience in managing social media profiles and content
  • Experience in organising fundraising events
  • Designing skills in adobe photoshop
  • Understanding and interest in general children’s rights/child protection issues
  • Ability to work well in small team with people from different professional and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently as well as stress resistant
  • Positive with a can do attitude and desire to receive feedback and improve
  • Ability to work proactively and to take charge of projects and efforts
  • Ability to work within tight budget constraints and a creative problem solver


  • Knowledge of other EU languages, especially French and Dutch
  • Knowledge of InDesign and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of website creation and content management
  • Knowledge of video creation and editing is a plus (Adobe premiere pro or Final cut)

Our offer:


An exciting internship for 4-6 months in a small, dynamic organisation dealing with problems related to the disappearance and sexual exploitation of children at a European level.


This is an unpaid position though expenses such as travel and lunches (up to 6 euros) can be covered. We are looking for candidates who are required to do an internship as part of their higher education requirements.


4-6 months. Starting date: Monday September 2, 2019 (flexible)
