The European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) is looking for a motivated trainee to join its team in Brussels. The chosen individual will be part of the EuroVelo Team and will support the work on communications, website management, social media, press relations, attending events, support projects, etc.
 
The ECF offers:

  • a 6-month full-time traineeship (according to Belgian law, we offer a professional traineeship agreement: "Convention d’immersion professionnelle (FR)" or "Beroepsinlevingsovereenkomst (NL)") with a compensation of €781 (gross amount) per month.
  • a training plan and a clear description of the job, the expected competences and training possibilities.
  • a friendly and international office in the heart of the European quarter.
  • plenty of opportunities to learn and to demonstrate creativity, management skills and to work on advocacy, communication, tourism promotion and other cycling-related issues.

Essential activities:

  • Editing, updating and providing content for websites and newsletters
  • Managing and providing content on social media (particularly Facebook and Twitter)
  • Answering requests from the public

Desirable activities:

  • Working in a communications role (e.g. advocacy, PR, journalism)
  • Writing resources and materials for advocacy, political activity, cycling media, voluntary groups etc.
  • Database management
  • Marketing
  • Design (Photoshop, etc.)
  • Web development

Essential skills:

  • Excellent written and spoken English and French (applicants that don’t fulfill this requirement will not be taken into account)
  • Self-motivated, outcome-oriented, team player
  • Commitment to the aims of ECF, in particular its aims to improve conditions for cycling and to encourage "more people cycling, more often"

Desirable skills:

  • English or French as a native language
  • Other languages are an asset (e.g. Dutch or German)
  • Web (WordPress, Plone) and social media management (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram…)
  • Computer-literate (MS Office, database management, internet tools, social media)
  • Managing multiple tasks
  • Strong networking skills (attending events, meetings etc.)
  • Able to set own priorities and deliver within agreed timescales
  • Proactive, flexible, hands-on personality
  • Bicycle user for leisure or transport

The traineeship should ideally start as soon as possible and no later than 7 May 2018. We'll give preference to candidates who are available as soon as possible.
