Communication Officer - Junior position

Start: mid-July 2018

Slow Food is a global movement that promotes good, clean & fair food for all. The post-holder will be responsible for the communication work of the Brussels office & contribute to the development & implementation of the communication strategy in Europe.   • create dynamic content
  • contribute to the website, social media work & newsletter
  • build on existing press work & reinforce media presence in Brussels
  • coordinate communication activities with colleagues in Europe & with Brussels-based NGOs
  • provide support in the organisation of events


  • relevant field of study
  • at least 1 year of work experience in the field
  • excellent English language written skills (native speaker or equivalent); additional language skills are a plus
  • keen interest in writing & ability to translate complex issues into compelling material
  • proficiency working with social media
  • experience with communication work on advocacy
  • experience working with WordPress & other cloud applications
  • experience with designing & creating communication strategies
  • self-driven with a positive outlook, a clear focus on high quality, creativity & flexibility
  • able to juggle different tasks simultaneously & to meet deadlines
  • able to respond to urgent issues, willing to travel on occasional basis

Terms of employment

One-year contract with possibility of extension. Preferred start date: July 15th. The gross salary is in line with that of an NGO, on the basis of the full-time job.
