Vacancy for a Communication Co-ordinator

About EFET

The European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET) promotes competition, transparency and open access in the European energy sector.

We build trust in power and gas markets across Europe, so that they may underpin a sustainable and secure energy supply and a competitive economy.

We do this by:

  • Working to improve the functionality and design of European gas, electricity and associated markets for the benefit of the overall economy, society and especially end consumers.
  • Developing and maintaining standard wholesale supply contracts and standardising related transaction and business processes.
  • Facilitating debate amongst TSOs, regulators, policy makers, traders and others in the value chain about the future of the European energy market.

The role

Working primarily with our Brussels based team, you will take responsibility for internal and external communication.

Internally, you will:

  • Keep in touch through a variety of media with managers in member companies, so that they are informed about EFET initiatives in a timely manner and encouraged to participate in EFET work
  • Draft and update internal briefing papers on key energy market topics
  • Help ensure transparent and smooth flow of information between colleagues in the Secretariat
  • Make sure that members of the Secretariat and of EFET working groups use briefing papers and respect guidelines for external communication with the press, event organisers and other associations

Externally, you will:

  • Conduct relations with the press and draft press releases
  • Respond to media queries and take care of our profile in social media
  • Organise and coordinate EFET endorsement of events
  • Keep our website up to date and attractive
  • Draft and compile periodic publications
  • Build and maintain your own strong network in Brussels
  • Protect the good reputation of EFET

Depending on experience, interest and language skills there may be a chance to contribute additionally to EFET work on regional and national energy markets.

The person we need

  • You have English as your mother tongue or equivalent oral fluency and written language capability
  • You have completed at least a bachelor degree of relevance to professional engagement in public relations, public affairs, media or the energy industry
  • Ideally you have already had some work experience in a communication related job or in the energy industry or in a trading environment
  • You are interested in the development of the European energy market
  • You are a team player
  • You are independently minded, flexible and content for much of the time to work without supervision

Conditions and remuneration

You will work under contract to EFET, guided by the Secretary General and an executive member of the Board. Hours are mostly flexible but deadlines must be respected. Some travel will be involved. Remuneration will be offered according to age, qualifications and experience.
