We are looking for hard-working, motivated and independent Communication and policy intern to assist with the organisational day-to-day operation, the internal and external communication and the organisation of activities.  (Details of the position below)

The African Caribbean and Pacific Young Professionals Network (ACP YPN) provides a platform for young people to play an active role in policy-making processes at the national, regional and international levels. We aim to assure that all young professionals can benefit from equality of opportunity by promoting and facilitating the integration of the perspectives of ACP and EU youth in several key dialogues. All our activities and advocacy contribute to ensuring ‘responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels’ (target 16.7) in order to provide solutions for youth and institutions in our societies (SDG 16).

ACP YPN landmark activities include establishing the bi-annual Youth Forum at the EU-ACP Joint Parliamentary Assembly, Leading the first ever delegation of 13 ACP youth ambassadors to the European Youth Event, Leading the first ever ACP youth delegation to the European Development Days (EDD16) and launching the first Black History Month EU.  - 

Qualifications requiered 

  • Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Communications/Journalism, Economics or related field degree (or studying towards it).
  • Very good writing and analytical skills. Comfortable synthesizing complex information.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. French is a good asset. Other EU languages, an advantage.
  • Self-starter personality - Intern must be able to work independently, as well as with a diverse international team
  • Attention to details and Well-organised 
  • Strong writing/blogging skills
  • Experience using web based resources, including social media, web editors, CMS is a advantage
  • Good knowledge of ACP-EU relations, Post-Cotonou negotiations, different institutions and previous experience in a non-profit organisation/association are an advantage but not mandatory. 

Main tasks 

  • Prepare communications and policy material (i.e briefings, position papers, presentations, flyers etc) for diverse audiences.
  • Support the preparation of opinion-editorials and blog posts.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks, including communication with partners and organising delegations.

  • Support advocacy activities by participating in meetings and events, taking notes,  monitoring EU policy debates and preparing short summaries/analysis.
  • Support the organisation of events, workshops and meetings.

Conditions and benefits of the internship: 

  • We recommend that applicants be supported by a funding program such as Erasmus+ or supported through their educational institute. We can provide some guidelines on applying for these. 
  • An internship for 5 days per week with flexible work schedule in our lovely office located 2 minute from the EU Parliament, with possibility to work from home.
