Job Description
The Government Marketing and Strategy (GMS) department ensures participation of NAVTEQ in European Commission funded international consortia projects, as well as in national projects, both at steering committee, technical and research level. The GMS team contributes to the technical and marketing development in such projects and ensures contributions from NAVTEQ.
GMS is also at the frontline of creating and maintaining relationships with consortium partners (automotive, mobile, navigation systems, GIS, content industry…) to ensure involvement in follow-up projects and coordinates NAVTEQ input the new proposals. GMS also ensures NAVTEQ’s visibility within the industry.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Represent NAVTEQ and NAVTEQ’s interest and contribution to European and international multi-industry developments and co-operation in the technology, policy creation, standard and strategic fields.
• Participate in activities and projects/committees organized by or under sponsorship of ERTICO (ITS Europe) to obtain and sustain visibility for NAVTEQ within the industry.
• Establish, maintain and expand constructive relationships within the ERTICO framework, ERTICO staff, -management and –members.
• Establish, maintain and expand constructive relationships with the relevant parties within the European Commission to secure NAVTEQ’s participation in funded consortia projects in Europe.
• Establish, maintain and expand constructive relationships with relevant stakeholders within ITS, the Automotive Industry and Public Sector.
• Obtain leadership roles for NAVTEQ in the organization of the annual ITS World Congress
• Prepare and write (technical) papers and deliver presentations for international congresses (ITS Europe/ITS World Congress).
• Follow up and lead research subsidized European projects, manage research teams and the associated contracts and budgets.
• Provide internal technical guidance and ensure participation and commitment from NAVTEQ’s internal identified partners (R&D, Soft ware Developers amongst others)
• Ensure regular information and knowledge sharing with the GMS department.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Europe with some international travel.
Requirements
• 5-10 years experience in project management of long term and large research programs
• Relevant University degree (Engineering, IT, Science, Economics, Marketing)
• Excellent English language skills; French and/or Flemish are considered and advantage)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with superior effective presentations skills
• Good interpersonal and people management skills
• Proven track record within the European industry / commission
• Strong point of reference through Transport, IT, Telco, Mobile Industry or Software.
• Excellent organization and coordination skills
• Proven capability of writing and editing detailed technical documents
Personal traits
Structured, Can-do mentality, Constructive approach, convincing and influencing, willingness and availability to work and travel outside normal office hours if required.
Passionate about the industry and willing to have an impact on the future.
Residing within reasonable commuting distance to Brussels due to daily commute or willing to relocate.
