The opportunity

The EU Institutions represent one of the most important EY global clients. We have a long-standing relationship with the European Commission in delivering audit missions related to EC funding. This through framework contracts and ad-hoc engagements. Our Belgian firm plays a key-role in this, coordinating and managing all assurance engagements related to EU funding on behalf of the EY network worldwide.

We are expanding our team and are looking forward to welcome a new colleague in the near future. That teammate might be you! Working as a Business Developer you will become part of our Brussels-based, international team and will primarily focus on developing opportunities related to assurance engagements directly with beneficiaries of funds (project funds certification).

Key responsibilities

  • You will foster existing business development practices with regards to the pursuit of opportunities in the context of EC funding compliance an this primarily in the Belgian market;
  • You will be in charge of the coordination with other EY network offices across the European Union to develop this particular business;
  • You will effectively manage the engagement process with appropriate consideration of the risk environment and technical matters;
  • You will initiate assurance engagements in compliance with International Standards of Auditing (ISA) or other applicable standards;
  • You will manage and lead required fieldwork on-site and liaise with other EY departments to ensure the smooth delivery of services;
  • You apply a critical mindset when it comes to the identification of areas in need of improvement in the client’s processes and will make value-adding recommendations;
  • You will actively contribute to valuable teamwork across all types of engagements;
  • You will provide the necessary input and consequently lay the foundation for the creation of marketing and communication tools;

Your profile

  • You have a Bachelor or Master Degree and at least 5 years of experience working in an assurance context;
  • You are acquainted with assurance engagements in the context of European Commission funding, particularly in the areas of development aid and research & innovation;
  • You are driven to recognise and pursue business opportunities in the market. You have an aptitude to develop client relationships externally and across our network of firms;
  • You are a strong communicator and have an excellent level of written and spoken Dutch, French and English. This is a must since you will work throughout Belgium;
  • You have strong organizational skills: you are able to successfully manage and prioritise tasks for multiple ongoing engagements;
  • You are flexible and are able to perform successfully in a fast-paced and client-oriented environment;
  • You demonstrate professionalism and proactivity and you understand the importance of meeting professional commitments;
  • You appreciate working with an international and diverse team;
  • You are available from Q1-2020, however dates can be discussed.
