Call for Backend Drupal Developer

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is Europe’s biggest student organisation, consisting of 540 local organisations (“sections”) present in Higher Education Institutions in 40 European countries. Our aim is to support and develop student mobility and the internationalisation of higher education, through providing services and opportunities to students. Every year, ESN maintains and develops several IT tools such as ErasmusIntern.org, esncard.org, and many others.

The Headquarters is responsible for managing the Network, developing and implementing new projects and advocating for student mobility and internationalisation of higher education. The Network is led by the International Board of ESN which is supported by the Secretariat.

ESN International, based in Brussels, is looking for a Backend Drupal Developer starting as soon as possible. You will work on developing, maintaining and documenting a high-traffic online Drupal platform, ErasmusIntern.org, while at the same time providing support to various smaller Drupal projects. The ErasmusIntern platform was developed with the purpose of helping potential interns and companies meet. Currently, we have over 9000 internships on the platform helping students finding their internships.

The position is a full time position preferably starting in November 2017 with a one-year contract.

Job description

  • Further develop ErasmusIntern.org as the universal Drupal platform for internships abroad. For example:
    • Development of an improved company profile;
    • Development of the improved internship application process;
    • Development of a messaging system;
  • Further develop additional smaller Drupal Projects;
  • Architectural design of the Drupal Modules;
  • Write project documentation;
  • Assist the Web Project Administrator in other current and/or upcoming Drupal projects;
  • Assist the office with IT-related tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Background in computer science, engineering or similar;
  • Experience with Drupal and Module Development;
  • Structured and reliable way of working;
  • Interest in web development;
  • Knowledge of PHP;
  • Knowledge of HTML(5), CSS(3), JavaScript/jQuery;
  • Knowledge of MySQL;
  • Knowledge of GIT;
  • Experience in working with API.

Highly valued

  • Experience in a European network;
  • Previous experience with volunteers of different nationalities;
  • Knowledge of ESN projects and education policies at European level are a plus.

Term and conditions

  • Full-time position (38 hours per week);
  • One-year contract;
  • Salary 2500 EUR gross per month, plus a “13th month”;
  • Public transportation in Brussels partially covered;
