AIJA is the only global association devoted to young lawyers under 45. Headquartered in Brussels, AIJA currently has 4,000 members and, among other initiatives, organises nearly 20 events every year which take place all around the world. AIJA is looking to recruit a new Association Manager.

If you have at least 6 years of experience managing complex structures and multicultural organisations, have a solid understanding of not-for-profits and their finances, if you excel in managing Boards and volunteers, then this position might be for you!

Mission and Strategy

  • Responsible for leading the Association in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board.
  • Work with Board, management committees and staff to ensure that the Association’s mission is fulfilled in a strategic, targeted and timely manner.
  • Proactively work with the Board to determine AIJA’s strategy and priorities on an ongoing basis.

Board of Directors

  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Budget and Finances

  • Responsible for planning and managing the Association’s annual budget in partnership with the Board.
  • Submit to the Board a proposed annual budget and provide budget updates and financial statements throughout the year which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organisation.


  • Managing and supervising AIJA team.
  • Managing of administrative resources (suppliers, finances, IT, etc.) in line with strategic planning and approved budget.
  • Supervision of initiatives dedicated to recruit new members and retain existing ones.
  • Overseeing success of events and other projects.
  • Supporting AIJA marketing plan.


  • Six or more years of nonprofit administration experience, including Board management.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, with proven ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
  • Strong management and staff development skills, with an ability to lead a diverse professional team.
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, delegating, collaborating, and programme development.
  • Ability to convey a vision of AIJA’s strategic future to Board, volunteers, staff and other stakeholders.
  • Solid budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Commitment to being action-oriented, entrepreneurial, mission-driven.
  • You are a great mediator, able to think out of the box and capable of facilitating complex decisions.
  • Fluent in English and French. Other languages will be considered an asset.
  • Willingness to travel, including internationally, as required.
