This is an exciting opportunity for a rising communications star to join a leading communications team in one of Brussels most effective trade associations.

About EFPIA:

The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) represents the pharmaceutical industry operating in Europe. Through its direct membership of 33 national associations and 41 leading pharmaceutical companies, EFPIA is the voice on the EU scene of 1,900 companies committed to researching, developing and bringing to patients new medicines that will improve health and the quality of life around the world.


The role reports to the Executive Director of Communications & Partnerships and is part of the Communications & Partnerships team.

The EFPIA Communications team is the voice of EFPIA to members, to stakeholders, in Brussels and across Europe. The team:

  • Works with staff and expert groups to design and deliver key EFPIA campaigns and toolkits aligned to the Board prorities such as disclosure, incentives, price and value, innovation, oputcomes and healthcare data
  • Supports delivery the EFPIA events programme
  • Engages and leads the industry communications and advocacy community in cross-industry, pan-Euopean communications programmes
  • Manages and develops the EFPIA digital voice through its websites, social media and apps
  • Manages reactive responses to the media and other external requests for statements, positions or evidence
  • Suports the EFPIA staff team in delivering thier objectives by providing communications support across a range of projects
  • Manages patient relations and the EFPIA Patient Think Tank

The responsibilities of the Assistant Communications Manager include:

  • Supports delivery of EFPIA communications campaigns such as #WeWontRest and incentives
  • Implements member and internal communications strategy
  • Support Communications Manager in delivery of key EFPIA events such as Annual conference
  • Support Digital Communications Manager in creation of digital content, monitoring of social media accounts
  • Support Exec Director of Communications in developing relationships with Brussels media, partnership opportunties and arranging interviews with key EFPIA spokespeople
  • Represents communications team at relevant working groups
  • Works with Team Admin Assistant to manage internal and external contact lists

Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree in communications or related subject, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in working in corporate communications, trade association communications or related field
  • 3 years experience working in communications
  • Fluency in English (native speaker or equivalent) with proven experience in drafting communications collateral
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software package (+add any other technical requirements)

The following would be assets:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in healthcare/pharmaeutical/life sciences sectors
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical devices or other health industry in positions related to communications
  • Familiarity with the functioning of the European institutions
  • Additional European languages
  • Experience in using other software packages such as InDesign, Content Management Systems


  • Organisational and project management skills,
  • Strong analytical (research), self-motivational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both in a team and as an individual
  • Ability to adapt to constantly evolving external and internal environment
