The International Life Sciences Institute, Europe (ILSI Europe)
is seeking an outstanding individual for the post of
Assistant Director

ILSI Europe is a non-profit, scientific organisation, established in 1986 to advance the understanding of scientific issues relating to nutrition, food safety, toxicology, risk assessment, and the environment.

The successful applicant will have

  • A higher level degree (preferably PhD) in areas such as food science and technology, food safety, biology, nutrition, toxicology or chemistry, academic experience with a track record of scientific achievements;
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience;
  • A good understanding of science across different fields, in an interdisciplinary and transversal manner;
  • Very strong management skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • A problem solving mind-set;
  • Strong experience in project management, including financial management;
  • Excellent command of written and oral English;
  • European citizenship or and EU working permit and willing to relocate to Belgium.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be accountable to ILSI Europe Executive and Scientific Director and will assist her to develop ILSI Europe as a driving force for the development of scientific solutions for food safety, nutrition and environment issues;
  • Lead a team of 7 Scientific Project Managers who manage the scientific programme of 22 specialised task forces and 50 expert groups and a network of highly renowned experts.
