The Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP) is an umbrella organisation that gathers over 40 European organisations and networks active in the field of education, training and youth, based all over Europe and beyond. LLLP aims to voice citizens’ concerns about education and lifelong learning. The Platform promotes a holistic vision of lifelong learning. The Lifelong Learning Platform is looking for a highly motivated dynamic team player, able to work within a multicultural environment and willing to be flexible but also able to stick to tight deadlines. The candidate should have a strong interest in education and lifelong learning. The position requires both technical and analytical skills, an eye for detail and motivation to look for solutions in a membership based organisation. 

Job description:

Support the policy and advocacy team by:

  • Monitoring EU policies related to lifelong learning, including attending European Parliament Committee meetings, and civil society organisations meetings;
  • Drafting internal newsletter for members;
  • Supporting LLLP working groups by facilitating the logistics and taking minutes;
  • Supporting drafting of policy papers. 

Support the communications team by:

  • Drafting external communications, including newsletters, social media posts and website articles; 
  • Monitoring social media, news and developments on lifelong learning, identifying opportunities of dissemination of key LLLP outputs; 
  • Supporting the organisation of key events such as national training, the LLLWeek etc.

Other tasks may include attending relevant events and reporting back, supporting other colleagues as needs arise, for instance in projects. 

Essential qualifications and skills: 

  • A degree or relevant experience in: education and training, European studies, political sciences, international relations, languages, journalism, communication, development studies or other related fields; 
  • An excellent command of the English language (spoken and written); Additional knowledge of one or more European languages will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills.
  • Ability to translate complex political issues into appropriate messages with accessible language.

Highly valued:

  • Knowledge of the European institutions and other target audiences related to education;
  • Interest in lifelong learning and education policies;
  • Experience with civil society, membership-based organisations and general non-profit sector (volunteering included);
  • Knowledge of digital tools: Mailchimp, CMS, Adobe and designing skills;
  • Social media savvy.

Transversal competences: 

  • Strong organisational skills and flexibility;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills within a multinational context;
  • Being action-oriented, self-motivated, responsible and willing to take initiative;
  • Having an eye for detail and knowing to keep to deadlines (even under pressure);
  • Creative and strategic thinking.

Terms and conditions

  • Position: Advocacy and Outreach Assistant
  • Reports to: Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Communication and Campaign Coordinator
  • Capacity: Full-time 
  • Location: Rue de l’industrie 10, 1000 Brussels, Belgium. Home-working possible until current COVID-19 measures are in place. The applicant must be legally resident in Belgium to be eligible for the position.  
  • Duration: 6-12 months
  • Type of contract: Contrat d’Immersion Professionnelle or Erasmus+ placement, subject to approval by relevant authority.
  • Additional benefits: LLLP also provides meal vouchers, monthly local public transport, and holiday allowance.

  3. LLLP members work with the Erasmus+ and Solidarity Corps programmes. The Commission has published this news piece and you are tasked with 1. communicating to members about it in LLLP’s internal newsletter (max 80 words) 2. Writing a short news piece on LLLP’s website (max 200 words). Be mindful of the different writing styles.
