Party of European Socialists (PES) is looking for: 
Adviser on Youth, Health and Regional Policy 
The  Party  of  European  Socialists  brings  together  33 socialist,  social  democrat,  Labour  and Progressive Democratic member parties in the European Union. The PES contributes by providing a platform for exchange of  policies and best practices to our member parties and member organizations through meetings and conferences;  influencing the  European  political  agenda  by connecting  our  family  through  the  preparation  of  common statements and positions and by preparing briefingsthrough monitoring European and national developments. Our policies and positions are driven by our values. These values must be leading and reflected in allactivities we develop. 
We advocate a progressive, European approach towards Youth, Health and Regional Policy. The PES is looking for an experienced Adviser to work on 3 main policyareas: Youth, Health Policy and Cohesion/ RegionalPolicy. A big part includes developing and influencing PES policies in the last 2 mentioned areas. As for youth policies, you  will  be predominantly  responsible  for  coordinating  the  PES  ‘Act for  Youth’  campaign  to  promote  the European Youth Plan. 
Duties of the Adviser on Youth, Health and RegionalPolicy will include, but are not limited to: 
  • Developing policy proposals in the fields of Youth  (including education and culture), Health and Regional (including local, urban and cohesion) Policy; 
  • Following developments in EU member states, at European level in European institutions and PES member parties and organisations in those fields 
  • Drafting policy documents, position papers, speaking points, briefing notes, reports from meetings; 
  • Following and analysing legislative and political processes in and between EU institutions and in EU member states, with a special focus on 3 specific main policy areas; 
  • Coordinating pan-European political campaigns involving stakeholders from numerous European countries 
  • Maintaining,  developing  and  coordinating  relations  with  relevant  stakeholders  in  EU  institutions,  PES member parties/organisations and Youth Plan ambassadors; 
  • Coordination and preparation of meetings in Brussels and in various EU Member states; 
  • Reporting on activities; 
  • Contributing to other duties as assigned.
  • High degree of political awareness and commitment to the core values of the PES; 
  • University degree, preferably in a field relevant to the position; 
  • At least 3 years of professional experience relevant to the specific policy areas. 
  • Experience at a member party or parliamentary groupwould be an asset; 
  • Interest in developing policies in the areas of youth, health and regional politics 
  • Solid knowledge of European decision-making, EU institutions and European politics; 
  • Good knowledge of regional/local level politics 
  • Advanced writing skills and analysis of policy and EU legislative documents; 
  • Good understanding of relevant national politics and party structures; 
  • Experiences in organising political meetings and conferences 
  • Excellent English and at least 1 other EU language;
  • A flexible team-player with a high degree of motivation and pro-activeness; 
  • A high level of analytical, organizational and coordination skills; 
  • A good command of office IT skills.
