The position is in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The candidate will work in the research group MOBI (Mobility, Logistics and Automotive Technology Research Centre). MOBI  is a top-notch research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel that has an international reputation in the fields of sustainable transport and its integration in the energy system. It is now involved in the development of the Green Energy Park close to Brussels. This is a living lab that will be unique in Europe and where the university, authorities and the industry collaborate to carry out cutting-edge research on smart micro-grids, renewable energy and innovative transport solutions. Recently MOBI has been very successful in its acquirement of innovative research projects for this new ambitious initiative, both on national and European level. It is hence looking for an administrative project manager to coordinate research activities in H2020 projects.

Tasks

The Project Manager assists the coordinator for the effective delivery of the EC funded project,

and will be responsible for all matters related to project cycle management and grant agreement compliance.

  • Facilitating the coordination of all project partners to ensure the effective implementation of the project, including setting up and managing internal project and communication management tools and organizing meetings of the different management bodies;
  • Leading on financial and narrative reporting;
  • Progress monitoring: Oversee the timely delivery of deliverables in collaboration with WP leaders, keep check of milestones, use of resources and escalate appropriately;
  • Being the main contact for project partners and represent the project when required;
  • Manage the overall project budget, ensuring compliance with EC regulations
  • Preparation and submission of financial/administrative deliverables and financial reports
  • Contact with projects partners, including guidance on administrative and financial issues
  • Daily administrative support to the technical project coordinator

Profile

  • University degree with at least 3 - 5 years professional experience
  • Extended experience/track record in project management for grants over €1million
  • Experience with the implementation of multi-country complex projects
  • Working experience of grant management under the H2020 scheme
  • Experience with technology driven projects
  • Collaborate well with team members and relevant stakeholders
  • Fluent English with strong writing skills
  • Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Be results-oriented, respect deadlines and give attention to details
