Job Description

For our office in Brussels, Pleon Belgium is seeking an account executive for the European Public Policy Communications team to start beginning of January 2010.

The successful candidate is a motivated junior communications expert ready to join its growing European Public Policy team in Brussels and help the team to conduct pan-European media relations campaigns and events from Brussels throughout the 27 Member States.

The ideal candidate will have:
• at least 1-2 years of professional experience in PR and communications, preferably in agency setting
• knowledge of PR tools and techniques
• will have the drive and personality to make things happen
• motivation and willingness to engage in demanding projects
• excellent drafting skills in writing media materials
• above average personal and communication skills
• excellent organizing skills
• willingness to travel
• profound knowledge of MS Office
• excellent English; fluency in French and/or further EU-languages is an important selection criterion
• understanding of European policies and the working of the EU institutions

Other responsibilities include:
• assisting account manager with network management of 27 agencies
• press release compilation and editing
• active pitching of story angles and secure journalist’s attendance for traveling press events
• assistance with event organizing and being responsible for own concrete tasks (local press conferences and pan-EU events)
• daily press monitoring and research
• support for updating of European Media Database
• summarize research and analysis of media reports for presentations
• centralization of pan-European information

The position is based in Brussels and candidates preferably live in Brussels. Please note that this vacancy is in our European Public Policy team and not in our Public Affairs team. Our Public Policy activities focus on communications for public institutions, about 95% on behalf of the European Commission towards the 27 Member States.
